She  studied Maths and Physics in Lipsia University. Until 1991 she worked in Berlin  as a researcher in the Institute of Science Theory and History of the DDR Sciences Academy, from 1992 to 1994 she worked in the Research Centre (Forschungsschwerpunkt) of History of Science in Berlin.
From 1997 to 2005 she was first Secretary and then President of Women Commission at the Branch for History of Science and Technology in the International Union of History and Science Philosophy  (DHST / IUHPS). In 2009 she was elected as a councillor in the Council of DHST.
