Testimony

I come from the southern Philippines, from the island of Mindanao, and I feel honored to be together with you today.

I would like to tell you that the spirit of Assisi arrived in Mindanao too! 

I say this because in our country religions have been important actors in helping the long process of peace negotiations.

The signing of the peace agreement on 27th March this year has put an end to the long war that lasted over 40 years. 

While the flames of so many conflicts are still burning all over the world, after the long night of war, today a new dawn of peace is born in Mindanao. 

Yes, peace is possible! 

There is no future without peace! 

Peace is victory for all! 

Dialogue between religions and cultures can change the world and can build peace. Let us continue to live together in this spirit, let us continue to build our common future, because… Peace is the Future!
