He studied pedagogy in Rome and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He has been Secretary General of ‘Men and Religions’, an association founded by the Community of Sant'Egidio to promote and grow mutual knowledge and dialogue between religions. He has participated in several peace processes, including the one in the Philippines for the autonomy of Mindanao. He has been involved for several years in helping Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
