Ahongbonon Grégoire
Activist for the Rights of Vulnerable People, Benin
[Ketoukpe, BENIN - 1953].
Born into a farming family in a small Beninese village, after a profound religious conversion he chose to dedicate himself to the care of the mentally ill in Africa.
In 1994, he founded in his country the 'Saint Camille de Lellis' association, which, through its welcome centres, now helps tens of thousands of mentally ill people to get rid of the 'chains of stigma' in five sub-Saharan African countries.
