He is secretary general of the Iraqi branch of the al-Khoei Foundation, an international institution supporting Shiite communities around the world, close to the current supreme leader of Shiism, Ayatollah Sistani. He is a grandson of Ayatollah Sayyed Abul Qasem Al-Khoei, supreme leader of Shiism from 1970 to 1992 and predecessor and teacher of the current ayatollah. He lives between London and his native Najaf.

 

As an expert in Islamic studies, he is the author of several research papers on the lives of religious minorities in Iraq. During the country's current very difficult political phase, in the face of the humanitarian drama affecting minorities in northern Iraq, he has repeatedly called for a cessation of violence, resumption of dialogue and solidarity with Christians.
