He is an advisor to the Supreme Priest of the Tendai Buddhist denomination, the oldest Japanese school of Mahajana Buddhism, founded in 805.

He is also a counselor of the Tendai Association of Religious Cooperation for International Peace (TARCIP), involved in interreligious dialogue and in the organisation of the Mount Hiei interreligious meetings that have been held in Japan since 1987 after the historic meeting held in Assisi in 1986 by Saint John Paul II.
